Hi. I’m Izzy.
And if you’re reading this, it means I finally hit publish after months of staring at a blank screen, wondering if anyone would care about the things I want to say.
The truth is, I didn’t start this blog because I have it all figured out. I started it because I don’t.
The Stuck Creative
For years, I’ve been the kind of person who collects experiences like souvenirs—each trip, each meal, each conversation tucked away in my mind like little treasures. But lately, I’ve felt… stuck. Like I’ve been holding my breath, waiting for permission to share the things that light me up.
Maybe you’ve felt that too.
That tension between wanting to create and fearing that what you love won’t matter to anyone else. That voice that whispers, “Who are you to write about joy when the world is so heavy?”
But here’s what I’ve realized: the world needs more joy, not less. And if my messy, wandering, recipe-failing, culture-obsessed journey can make even one person feel seen—or better yet, inspire them to book a flight, try a new dish, or just take a deep breath and enjoy where they are—then that’s enough.
Why “Izzyfied”?
This blog isn’t about perfect itineraries or pretending I’m some fearless traveler who never gets lost (I do, constantly). It’s about the real stuff—the kind of travel that changes you.
- The way a street vendor’s smile in Istanbul can make you feel at home.
- The disaster that was my first attempt at making handmade pasta in Italy (RIP, that dough).
- The quiet magic of sitting in a foreign train station, realizing no one knows your name, and feeling strangely free because of it.
I want this space to feel like a conversation with a friend who gets it—who knows that travel isn’t just about places, but about the way they reshape you.
What to Expect Here
- Culture with a Side of Chaos – From hidden local traditions to my hilarious attempts at recreating dishes abroad.
- Travel That Feels Human – No glossing over the missed buses or language fails.
- Recipes (or “Recipes”) – I’m no chef, but I’ll share the meals that made me pause, laugh, or cry (looking at you, Thai-spicy curry).
A Little Invitation
If you’ve ever:
- Felt like you’re searching for something but don’t know what…
- Booked a trip just to remember what it feels like to be curious…
- Or scrolled Instagram and wondered, “How do people live like that?”
…then you’re in the right place.
This blog is my way of saying: Let’s wander—both out there and within ourselves. Let’s get lost, find ourselves again, and maybe, just maybe, heal a little along the way.
So, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
Where should we go first?
— Izzy
